How to Create a QR Code for a Website

QRCodeGeneratorScanner Editorial Team · Published September 10, 2026 · Updated September 10, 2026

Choose a stable website URL, export a QR code and verify that visitors reach the intended page.

Choose the destination first

Use the final HTTPS page rather than a temporary preview address. If visitors need a menu, link directly to the menu instead of asking them to navigate from your homepage. Check that the page is usable on a phone and accessible without an account if public access is intended.

Generate a readable symbol

Paste the complete URL into the URL tool. Keep dark modules on a light background and leave the quiet zone intact. A long link with many parameters produces more data; remove only tracking parameters you know are unnecessary, not functional query parameters.

Test beyond the preview

Download the image and scan that file from another screen or a small print sample. Confirm the exact domain and the final landing page after any redirects. Test with a signed-out browser to catch permission restrictions.

Maintain the linked page

A static QR cannot have its stored URL edited. If you control the destination URL, you can update the page at that address. Keep a record of where printed codes point before moving or deleting website content.
