Open tool →What is a QR code?
A QR code is a two-dimensional symbol that stores a small payload, such as text or a website address. A compatible reader turns its pattern of modules back into data. The picture itself is not a website, file host or proof that a link is trustworthy.
How QR codes work
The large corner patterns help a reader locate and orient the symbol. Other modules carry the data and error-correction information. Leave the blank quiet zone around the code intact so the reader can distinguish it from nearby artwork.
How to create a QR code
Choose the information type, fill in its fields and generate a preview. Download PNG for a document or SVG for a scalable layout. Test the downloaded image and the final printed version, not only the on-screen preview.
How to scan a QR code
Use the QR scanner for a camera or image, or the image decoder for a saved file. Hold the camera steady, include the border and avoid glare. Review the output before opening a link.
QR code types and useful applications
URL codes open pages. Text codes show a message. WiFi codes share network settings, vCards share contact fields, and action links can prepare a chat, email or call. A restaurant can link to a menu it hosts, while an event organizer can link to a schedule it keeps current.
QR code safety
Look at the actual destination rather than a printed label alone. A sticker can be replaced and a legitimate-looking domain can be misspelled. Never enter a password or payment credential merely because a QR code requested it. This tool does not certify the safety or ownership of decoded content.
Static versus dynamic QR codes
This website generates static symbols: their payload is fixed in the image. A dynamic service typically encodes a redirect address that it controls, allowing that service to change the eventual destination. We do not provide hosted redirects, scan analytics or editable destinations. You can update a page at a stable URL you control.
Printing tips
Choose dark modules on a light background, retain the quiet zone and avoid stretching. SVG scales cleanly; PNG needs enough pixels for its print size. Test under realistic lighting and at the distance users will scan. A logo or dense payload requires extra checking.
Frequently asked questions
Are the tools free to use?
The supplied generators and scanner do not require an account or a payment to generate, decode or download a code.
Do you host my PDF or website?
No. A document or website must already be hosted at a URL you can share. A QR code only encodes that address.
Can a static code stop working?
The image has no service-controlled expiry, but damaged printing, incompatible readers or an unavailable destination can prevent successful use.
Where can I get help?
Read the QR guides or email contact@blacknote.media. Do not send sensitive QR content when reporting a problem.
